Volvo launches new online car buying service

Volvo claims its new online car buying service to be the UK’s most comprehensive – offering a secure end-to-end vehicle purchase process.

Volvo Online is designed to be flexible, secure and intuitive to use, providing a complete service, from vehicle specification right through to the final purchase agreement.

Customers select the Volvo they want, specifying powertrains, colours, options and accessories, ready for factory order. All types of buyer are catered for, whether they require a personal contract purchase (PCP) or personal contract hire (PCH) agreement, a conditional sale or a cash purchase. PCP and PCH customers can see the impact on monthly finance costs – in real time – as they configure their cars.

They can also part-exchange their old vehicle, apply for finance and sign their agreement via e-signature, all from the comfort of their home or office. From start to finish, Volvo claims the entire process can take as little as 20 minutes to complete.

Volvo is hoping the platform will strengthen the relationship between the customer and their local retailer, who will manage the process and help them to choose the right car and finance package.

Full vehicle configuration will be initially available on the Volvo XC40 SUV, with other models becoming available by Friday, 3 May.

Commenting on the launch of the new service, Jon Wakefield, Volvo Car UK Managing Director, said: “Whether online or offline, the way people buy cars has changed. Customers now have much more control over the process, and Volvo Online helps them to take that one step further.”
