When the original Cayenne was launched, Porsche enthusiasts everywhere were horrified at what they saw as a dilution of the brand. And to make matters worse, the creation that Porsche presented was far from the most beautiful new car on the road.
But Porsche's timing was spot-on, and their boldness vindicated: the market couldn't get enough of this new breed of high-performance offroader and the Cayenne quickly became a global sales success story. Now we have an all-new Cayenne, once again sharing a portion of its initial development with the Volkswagen Touareg.

It quickly becomes clear that the company has had some very definite development objectives from the start of this project. Reflecting the social and environmental concerns prevalent today, Porsche has made the new car sleeker, less threatening; lighter, and crucially, much more efficient. Spotting a Cayenne in your rear-view mirror no longer brings with it quite such a feeling of aggression, and presumably Porsche hope, annoyance.
So although Turbo V8 and naturally aspirated V8 versions are once again available, this time there are V6, Diesel and now a Hybrid model available from the start.
